Hello, art enthusiasts! I am Donnie Marshall, known as “Pops” to my three adult children, daughters- and son-in-law, my four grandsons, and my friends in the art community. My artistic journey began almost 45 years ago with a beginner class in stained glass. I left that class with a poorly executed but nonetheless attractive hummingbird, which has now “survived” almost a double handful of household moves and falls and glue-backs, and has become a treasured relic over the years. I found that first long ago class both stimulating and relaxing, requiring a totally different kind of mental focus and physical skill than did the high stress and intense action of the law enforcement carreer I was in at the time. I was totally and completely absorbed for three hours, to the exclusion of all else in the universe. Alas, the high stress career and the arrival of babies and abundant travel and graduate school and life in general all conspired to ensure that I didn’t pursue the art/craft for the better portion of the next five decades. But I always had the hummingbird. And the ethereal memory of those three insouciant hours I spent creating it.
